It was two years almost to the day since I last saw Lisa Sanders, so I was intensely pleased to finally catch up with her in Guerneville, California again. It had taken me three days to drive the 620 or so miles from San Diego, where I'd been meeting a friend from Arizona, and also Lisa's friend and fellow singer-songwriter Eve Selis (more on Eve in another article, coming soon..!), so I was amazed when Lisa told me she'd done the journey in 9 hours..! Having said that, I did take the scenic route along the historic Highway 1 Pacific Coast road, which is an account in itself, and one I'll hopefully get around to adding to this site soon..!
The journey was a lot less troublesome than my last trip, and made easier by my recent acquisition of a GPS satellite navigation device, so I didn't get lost..! Main Street Station restaurant was just as I'd remembered it, and this time I both met with Suzi, the owner, who had been out of town on my last visit, and had one of their excellent pizzas, although I really could have done with a smaller one, Suzi ;-)
Lisa's music was just as I remembered it as well, and she sang some newer songs that I'd not heard before. Like I said in my last article, I'm not a reviewer or journalist, so it's difficult for me to describe Lisa's style, you'll just have to listen for yourselves and make up your own minds..!
She was accompanied by Marissa (see photo, apologies for the poor quality), who added an unusual aspect to Lisa's songs, I've never heard them with a violin accompaniment before :-)
Thanks to Lisa, Marissa and everyone else for a great night again, and also to Suzi for the pizza..! It was also good to meet with Lisa's daughter Corinne, who's no mean artist, judging by some of the drawings I saw..!
